On a fine afternoon 2 April 2016 Richard Hartnell married Jane Easley in St Lawrence’s Church Darlaston. Richard who sings baritone [ well most of the time !] is now one of the longest serving members of the Chorus, including some years as its Director, having joined back in 1983, and several members of the Chorus were there to witness the marriage and attend the reception which took place in Darlaston Town Hall afterwards
Around 80 guests were present and not surprisingly these included a wide mixture of people who identify with Richard and Jane’s activities including teaching; church and handbell campanology and Barbershop singing. As part of Richard’s speech those singers present joined him in singing ‘Mona Lisa’ at the reception. Earlier in the wedding day a group of church bell ringers [including Richard ] performed a peel for some two and three quarter hours in St Lawrence’s Church and at least one of the team had blisters to prove he’d done this !
The Hartnell’s left that weekend to honeymoon in the South West and I’m sure that the whole Chorus would wish to convey every best wish for a long and happy marriage for Jane and Richard.
